Garnet I. Katterheinrich, 88, of 807 Williams Street in St.Marys, OH died 2:45 p.m. Thursday April 1, 2010 at her residence.

She was born August 14, 1921 in Jay Co., IN to Asa and Viola (Sherman) Smith.

On June 5, 1942 in Portland, IN, she married Marion Katterheinrich, who died January 26, 1997.

She is survived by:

• daughter, Janice Katterheinrich of St.Marys, OH
• daughter, Diane (Arlan) Wagner of Celina, OH
• son, Steven (Sara) Katterheinrich of St.Marys, OH
• 3 granddaughters: Kelly (Brian) Christopher, Angie Katterheinrich, Kristy Katterheinrich
• 1 great-granddaughter Chloe Christopher
• sister, Gladys Kaderly of Portland, IN
• sister, Beulah Hiser of Portland, IN
• sister-in-law, Pat Smith of Portland, IN
• brother-in-law, John Hammitt of Bryant, IN

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Lowell Smith, sister, Onnalee Hammitt

She retired as a cafeteria worker from the St.Marys City Schools. She had also worked at the Vanderhorst Cannery Co. in St.Marys and as a childcare provider.

She was a member of the St.Paul’s United Church of Christ in St.Marys.

Her favorite activity was spending time with her family.

Rites are scheduled 10:00 a.m. Wednesday April 7, 2010 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road in St.Marys, with the Rev. Ed Bray, officiating. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton, OH.

Visitation for family and friends will be held  3 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
