Leon W. Jung, 81, of 814 Lake Avenue, St.Marys, OH, died 7:55 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2009, at his residence. 

He was born February 19, 1928 in Shelby County, the son of Christian and Lenora (May) Jung. 

He married Virginia Speckman on July 22, 1954; she preceded him in death on August 22, 2004. 

He is survived by:

¨ Daughter, Jeannine (Bradley) Goodwin of St.Marys, OH

¨ 2 grandchildren: Shawn (Deanna) Goodwin of Dublin, OH and Leslie Goodwin of Columbus, OH

¨ Special friend, Ruth Holscher of Osgood, OH

¨ Brother, Ralph Jung of Sidney, OH

¨ Sister, Madella Heidt of New Knoxville, OH

¨ Sister, Gertrude Miller of Columbus Grove, OH 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings: Lester Jung, Nelson Jung, Victor Jung, Francis Warner, Annie Tontrup, LaRose Jung. 

Leon was a 1946 graduate of Anna High School.  He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was retired from the Hoge Lumber Company in New Knoxville, where he was a master carpenter.  He was a member of VFW Post 9289 and American Legion Post 323 in St.Marys.  He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and woodworking.  He was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church and he made the cross which hangs above the altar of the church.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 a.,. Thursday, October l, 2009 at the Wayne Street United Methodist Church, the Rev. Mary Kay Brown, officiant.  Burial, with military rites, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.   

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, OH, where memorial donations may be directed to either Grand Lake Hospice or the Wayne Street United Methodist Church Building Fund.
