Helen E. C. Hollinger-Johnson, 84, formerly of Celina, OH, died 10:00 A.M. Thursday December 20, 2007 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH.
She was born October 8, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA to Clifford & Emma (Burgowitz) Campbell.
On June 28, 1947, she married Daniel Hollinger, who died March 15, 1980. She then married Herschel O. Johnson on April 11, 1993, and he survives.
Also surviving are: son Daniel L. (Irena) Hollinger of St.Marys, OH
daughter Diann M (John) Januska
3 grandchildren: Angela & Daniel Hollinger, Wesley Carter
sister Joan Ganley of Juno Beach, FL
She was preceded in death by: parents, first husband, brother Stanley Campbell
She earned a bachelor of science degree from the Indiana State Teachers’ College of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree from the Michigan State University.
She taught home economics course for school systems in Lansing, and Oswego, MI and Coldwater and Celina, OH for many years.
She was a former member of the St.Paul’s United Methodist Church in Celina, and currently of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St.Marys.
An accomplished artist, she created numerous watercolor paintings. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Funeral services are scheduled 5:00 p.m. Sunday December 23, 2007 at the Meyer Community Chapel of the Otterbein Retirement Community, near Grand Lake St.Marys. The Rev. Ed Groff will officiate the services.
Visitation 1 - 5 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service. Graveside burial rites will take place 9:30 a.m. Monday December 24, 2007 at the Harris Creek Cemetery, near Bradford, OH.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either Otterbein-St.Marys, or the Wayne St. UMC.
