Gary W. James, 62, of 14601 Koenig Road in St.Marys, OH died 7:40 a.m. Wednesday October 28, 2009 at his residence, following an extended illness.

He was born October 27, 1947 in Celina, OH to William “Jesse” and Evelyn (Suchland) James.

On November 8, 1969 in St.Marys, OH, he married Karen “Kate” S. Raymond, who survives.

He is also survived by:

He was preceded in death by his parents

He was a 1965 graduate of Memorial High School in St.Marys.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served during the Viet Nam era.

Retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St.Marys, where he was a supervisor and area manager. Following his retirement, he worked at Pak-A-Sak and Certified Oil Co. (West), both in St.Marys.

He attended St.Paul’s United Church of Christ in St.Marys.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #323, Buckeye Crappie Challenge Tournament Trail and St.Marys Bassmasters.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, trapping and bow hunting. He was particularly interested in fishing, having served as a guide on Grand Lake St.Marys and Indian Lake and spent countless hours making his own jigs. He also enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends and was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 31, 2009 at St.Paul’s United Church of Christ 201 N. Perry Street in St.Marys, with the Rev. Dr. Ed Bray, officiating. Burial, with graveside military rites, will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery, in St.Marys.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 2 - 8 p.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home & Cremation Service 1605 Celina Road in St.Marys and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
