Carol “Bud” Ireton, 81, of 2117 Kesington Drive in St.Marys, OH, and formerly of New Knoxville, died 4:45 a.m. Sunday August 24, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born January 31, 1927 in New Richmond, OH to Edward Francis and Mabel (Gardner) Ireton.
On September 6, 1949, he married Eunice Lutterbeck, who survives.
He is also survived by:
Son, David Ireton of Dayton, OH
Daughter, Susan (Doug) Harrod of New Bremen, OH
2 grandchildren: Christina (Darren) Klinger of Powell, OH and Eric Harrod of New Bremen, OH
1 great-grandchild: Carson Klinger
Brother, James ( Natalie) Ireton of Huber Heights, OH
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward & Mabel Ireton and daughter Constance Ireton in 1972
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served during World War II.
He retired form the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St.Marys after 35 years of service, where he was night superintendent for the plant.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, New Knoxville Historical Society, American Legion Post # 444 in New Knoxville, VFW Post # 9289, Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767 in St.Marys Marine Corps League, 4th Marine Division Association.
He enjoyed playing cards with friends.
Funeral rites are scheduled 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, with the Very Rev. Dr. David Williams, officiating. Burial, with full graveside military rites, will follow at the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, near New Knoxville.
Visitation for family and friends will be held 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday in the Heritage Room of the church.
