Berdell Mae Ice, 93, of 936 West High Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 11:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at her residence.

She was born June 6, 1915, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Ralph and Mina (Finke) Palmer.

She married Kenneth Nagel on September 19, 1971; he preceded her in death on February 26, 1983. She married Denzil Ice on May 7, 1984 and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1997.

She is survived by her sister Ruth Raymond, with whom Berdell made her home. Ruth was her primary caregiver for several years.

She is survived by a daughter, Roxann (Jim) Sorah of Saint Charles, Virginia; ; by two step-sons, Bob Ice of Lebanon, Ohio and Doug Ice of Vandalia; by four grandchildren: Robin (Mark) Freer of Saint Marys; Erinn (Jim) Eshleman of Saint Marys; Gregg (Amy) Schmidt of Saint Marys and Kriss (Lisa) Schmidt of Middletown;by 9 great-grandchildren: by one great-great-grandson; by her nieces and nephews: Jill (John) Bowers of Saint Marys; Jack (Karen) Hollman of Waynesfield; Jim (Darlene) Hollman of Saint Marys; Joy (Steve) Sibold of Saint Marys; by 13 great nieces and nephews; 27 great-great-nieces and nephews; 3 great--great-great nieces and nephews; by a brother in law, Gilbert “Bud” Ice of Saint Marys; by a sister in law, Izetta Fulton of Saint Marys.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and three great-nieces and nephews.

Berdell was a 1933 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She was the founder and proprietor of Berdell’s Dressland, a women’s clothing store which was in business in Saint Marys for 35 years.

She was voted Saint Marys Woman of The Year; she was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Hawthorne Chapter #119, Order of Eastern Star; she enjoyed traveling and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 27, 2008, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Bill Maki, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1-5:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to Celina Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice or Zion Lutheran Church.
