Ralph D. Huwer, 87, of 524 South Main Street, St.Marys, OH, died 11:55 P.M. Sunday, December 2, 2007, at the St.Marys Living Center.

He was born October 19, 1920, in St.Marys, the son of William and Mary (Bernard) Huwer.
He married Mary Roebuck in 1941 and she preceded him in death in 1985. He married Ruth Makley on March 28, 1987; she survives at the residence.

He is survived by six children and four step-children: Karen Taylor of Ocala, Fla; Richard Huwer of Boca Raton, Fla; Jean (William) Harmon of Grandberry, Texas; Rita Huwer of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; Susan Norman of Detroit, Michigan; William Huwer of Pembrooke Pines, Fla.

Step-children include: Rebecca (Marvin) Watercutter of Celina; Thomas (Taffy) Makley of Spencerville; Sarah (Jack) Schrolucke of New Knoxville; Timothy (Julie) Makley of New Knoxville; by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by two brothers: Charles (Dorothy) Huwer of St.Marys and Harold Huwer of Kettering, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Clarence Huwer, his first wife Mary, by one grandchild and one great-grandchild; and by one daughter, Mary Ann.

Ralph was a 1939 graduate of St.Marys Memorial High School. He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St.Marys and he also owned and operated a storm window business for many years.

Ralph was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St.Marys and had belonged to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Bellview, Fla. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Bellview. He belonged to Eagles Lodge 767 in Saint Marys. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Cleveland Indians, Notre Dame, Cleveland Browns and the Saint Marys Roughriders. He enjoyed the many years he spent in Florida.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 7, 2007, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St.Marys, The Reverend Anthony Cutcher, celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bellview, Florida.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, St.Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Friends of Holy Rosary.
