Wayne O. Hulsmeyer, 75, formerly of Napoleon, Ohio, died 8:40 A.M. Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Golden Living Center Nursing Home in Saint Marys.
He was born August 12, 1934, in New Knoxville, the son of Orland and Adelia (Melter) Hulsmeyer. They preceded him in death, as did his step-mother, Dora (Ball) Hulsmeyer.
He married June Cutlip and she preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sisters: Irene Howe of New Knoxville; Judith Garman of Fostoria; by numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by a special friend, Janet Erford of Napoleon, Ohio; by an aunt, Lavina Stolte of Cridersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother; former wife; three sisters: Phyllis Jean Hulsmeyer; Carlene Louise Hulsmeyer; Sandra Kay Hulsmeyer; by a step-brother, Gerald Ball; a step-sister, Gertrude Marsh.
Wayne attended the Ohio State School for the Deaf. He worked for some time as a carpenter and farm hand. He retired from the Foster Canning Company in Napoleon.
Wayne had a unique sense of humor. He loved his car and visiting friends. He was named resident of the month at the Golden Living Center. He had attended Calvary Chapel Church. He loved animals and kids.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at the New Knoxville United Methodist Church, the Reverend Dennis Gaertner, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services at the church on Wednesday, Memorial donations may be directed to either Grand Lake Hospice or the Auglaize County Historical Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home in New Knoxville.
