Robert W. Huckeriede, 78, of 2405 Kensington Drive in St. Marys, OH died 5:30 p.m. Friday December 9, 2011 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys. 

He was born November 17, 1933 in Auglaize Co., OH to Wilbur and A. Ruth (Steva) Huckeriede.

On May 5, 1956 in the Evangelical & Reformed Church in New Knoxville, OH he married Shirley Janelle Kuck, who survives.

Son, Richard J. “Dick” (Nan) Huckeriede of St. Marys, OH

Daughter, Suzann (Doug) Pusser of New Albany, OH

Daughter, Laura (Mark) Maag of Ottawa, OH

11 grandchildren: Brian (Jackie) Huckeriede, Thomas Huckeriede, David Pusser, Madison Pusser, John Steinke, Michael Terry, Zach Ferrall Ali Ferrall, Macy Ferrall, Ashley Maag, Katie Maag

Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol (James) Moss of Fishers, IN 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur & A. Ruth Huckeriede; grandson, Anthony David Huckeriede; brother, James L. Huckeriede; step-mother, Mary L. Adams-Huckeriede. 

He was a 1951 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and remained a huge fan of Roughrider sports programs throughout his life. 

A veteran of the United States Army, he was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA from 1956 – 1958. 

He was a retired production and supervisory employee from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys with 31 years of service.  In addition, he owned and  operated  Huckeriede Lawn Service for over 30 years.  He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Marys. 

Bob had a love of the great outdoors and was particularly interested in lawn care and hunting. He also spent many seasons as a softball pitcher, playing fast-pitch for Parker Motors and slow-pitch for Moulton Merchants. On cold winter days, Bob could often be found playing ice hockey on the frozen 40 Acre Pond north of St. Marys.  

Bob and his wife Shirley enjoyed travelling together and visited all 50 United States and many foreign countries. He also loved to play practical jokes on his unsuspecting family and friends.

Funeral Rites are Scheduled 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 14, 2011 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ 201 N. Perry Street in St. Marys, with the Rev. Dr. Ed Bray, officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation 2 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
