Betty L. Hevlin, 80, of 450 North Perry Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 7:13 A.M. Monday, January 11, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Saint Marys following an extended illness.
She was born Septeber 3, 1929, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Leonard and Mina (Teeters) Rain. She was raised in the home of her maternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs John Teeters and her aunt, Leola Teeters.
She married Thomas Hevlin on December 16, 1950; he survives at the residence.
She is also survived by her daughter, Carol (Greg) Smith of Celina; by two grandchildren: Megan Smith of Celina and William Hevlin of Ada; by a great-granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Hevlin of Ada; by two cousins: Marian Wellman of New Knoxville and Bob Rain of Dayton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Mark Hevlin.
Betty was a 1947 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She worked at the former Jaspersen Supply Company in Saint Marys, and was also a homemaker.
She was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking, doing volunteer work and playing various card games.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 14, 2010, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, the Reverend Ed Bray, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to either the Dialysis Unit at Joint Township Hospital or Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ.
