Mary M. Hertenstein, 83, of 17222 Aug. Co. Road 66-A North in St. Marys, died 7:30 p.m. Monday August 8, 2011 at Otterbein Retirement Community, near Grand Lake St. Marys. 

She was born August 16, 2011August 16, 1927 in Jefferson Twp. – Mercer Co., OH to Donald and Florence (Glass) Chivington. 

On November 9, 1947 at the East Old Town Church in Mercer Co., OH she married Harold “Lefty” Hertenstein, who died October 28, 2008. 

She is survived by:

Daughter, Kristina (John) Yancik  of West Alexardria, OH

Son, Jeffrey (Linell) Hertenstein  of St. marys, OH

Daughter, Jodi Hertenstein  of St. Marys, OH

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Florence Chivington; husband, Harold “Lefty” Hertenstein; brother, L.D. Chivington; sister, Anna Brodbeck. 

She was a 1945 graduate of Memorial High School in St. Marys.  She was a homemaker and had assisted her husband in the operation of the Kossuth Feed Mill in Kossuth, OH for many years. 

She enjoyed serving as a volunteer in the pharmacy department at JTDM Hospital.

Private family funeral services will be held. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, in St. Marys.
