Laura M. Henning, 87, of 531 W. Bremen Street in New Knoxville, OH (and formerly of Munroe Falls, OH) died 12:15 a.m. Friday June 18, 2010 at Golden Living Center - Valley in St. Marys, OH.

She was born January 12, 1923 in Burbank, OH to Joe and Rose (Fink) DeVoe.

On December 26, 1941 at Barkdale Field AFB near Shreveport, LA, she married Lt. Col. Robert T. Henning, who survives.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Dixie Henning-Worcester; sister, Cleo DeVoe; brothers Jack and Don DeVoe

She was a 1940 graduate of the Lodi, OH, high school.

She was an area director for Mary Kay Cosmetics Co. and helped to organize the Welcome Wagon program in St. Marys.

She attended Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, OH and was a former member of First Christian Church in Stow, OH.

Her favorite pastimes included fishing, ice skating ,crocheting, flower gardening and flower arranging. In addition, she was a formidable player of the game of bridge. A voracious reader, she also loved to socialize and also greatly enjoyed ballroom dancing. She taught her children to make blackberry, pumpkin and rhubarb pies.

At the age of fifteen, her mother died and she helped raise her younger brother, Robert.

Rites for Mrs. Henning are scheduled 11:30 a.m. Wednesday June 23, 2010 at Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, OH, with Pastor Tom Sager, officiating. Private family burial will take place at Dayton National Cemetery, in Dayton, OH.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
