She was born July 14, 1920, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Fred and Edith (Slife) Makley.

She married Adrian Hardin and he preceded her in death in 1989.

She is survived by her two children: Ronnie (Pat) Hardin of Piqua; Sharon Carpenter of New Bremen; by a daughter-in-law, Lannie Hardin; by 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Fred Hardin, a grandson, David Hardin, a great-granddaughter, Samantha Hardin.

Mary was a 1937 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She was a licensed practical nurse and had worked at Auglaize Acres and the Lone Pine Nursing Home.

She loved spending her time with her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing her baked goods with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, going shopping and was interested in fashion.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 9, 2008, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Scott Stremmel, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
