Melvin O. Hamp, 77, of 03251 Clover Four Road in New Bremen, OH died 8:03 p.m. Tuesday November 18, 2008 in the emergency department at JTDM Hospital.

He was born February 4, 1931 in Botkins, OH to Kenneth M. and Melva M. (Koons) Hamp.

On March 19, 1949 in Folkston, GA he married Velma G. Bohannon, who survives.

He is also survived by::

• son William L. Hamp of Sarasota, FL

• daughter Lynnell (Gregg) Wibbeler of St.Marys, OH

• 4 grandchildren: Emily (Chris) Castiglioni, Kara (John) Timm, Liza (Andy) I Richardson, Joshua Hamp

• 2 great-grandchildren: Olivia Castiglioni, Kiya Richardson

• sister Betty Heitman of McCartyville, OH

• sister Burnell Kellermeyer of St.Marys, OH

• sister Marilyn Hedges of Portland, IN

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Hamp; sister, Delores Cook

A veteran of the armed forces, he served for two years in the United States Navy.

He retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St.Marys, having worked 35 years as a maintenance mechanic.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767 in St.Marys and the New Bremen Rod & Gun Club.

An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed fishing and coon hunting.

Services are scheduled 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Miller Funeral Home (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St.Marys, with the Rev. Bill Drummond, officiating. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton, OH.

Visitation 5 - 8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to services on Sunday at the funeral home on Ohio 703 West.
