Hazel M. Goodwin, 89, of 1103 Indiana Avenue, Saint Marys, died 7:40 P.M. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at her son’s residence in Elida.

She was born November 22, 1921, in Montezuma, Ohio, the daughter of Wilbur and Mary (Peggs) Ritchie.

She married Forrest “Red” Goodwin on August 1, 1942 and he preceded her in death on February 25, 2003.

She is survived by a son, Jerry (Mary) Goodwin of Elida; a daughter, Kelli Burch of Saint Marys; by eight grandchildren: Steve, Stacey, Nicole, Lindsay, Erika, Katie, Kim and Ted; by nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by a son, Forrest Goodwin,Jr., who died in infancy; her husband; a brother, Ralph Ritchie; a sister, Wanda Peggs.

Hazel was a graduate of Celina High School. She retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Saint Marys. She was a member of the First Church of God in Saint Marys. She was a talented seamstress who made many of her own clothes and enjoyed flower gardening. She will be remembered as a very loving and caring mother and grandmother.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Charles Richtmyer, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
