William R. Glover, 71, of 112 Marbello Court in St. Marys, OH died 9:12 a.m. Friday July 15, 2011 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, OH.

He was born May 25, 1940 in Cleveland, OH to William C. and Viola (Schmelter) Glover.

On October 10, 1970 in Celina, OH he married Shirley Adams, who survives.

He is also survived by:

Daughter, Della Driver  of Troy, OH

Daughter, Jimmi (Robert) Stead  of Troy, OH

Son, Michael (Lyndi) Glover  of Los Angeles, CA

7 grandchildren: Randi Stead, Robbi Lachat, B.J. Stead, Smantha Driver, Sarah Driver, Hudson Glover

1 great-granddaughter:  Mallory Lachat

Brother, Thomas (Emily) Glover  of Geneva, NY 

He was preceded in death by his parents

He was a graduate of Rhodes High School in Cleveland and Kent State University.

He served as a member of the Ohio National Guard.

He retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys, where he worked as a purchasing agent.

Memberships included: Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767 and American Legion Post # 323 both in St. Marys and the Moose Lodge in Celina, OH.

An avid outdoorsman, he collected guns and knives. Prior to his debilitating illness, Bill took part in the adventurous pastimes of boat racing and waterskiing. He also immensely enjoyed the company of his canine companion, “Tiffany.”

Services for Mr. Glover are scheduled 12:00 noon Tuesday July 19, 2011 at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation 6 – 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home on High Street.

Memorial contributions may be directed to a fund established to plant trees in Bill’s memory.
