Kathryn M. Gibson, 102, of 110 Williams Street, Saint Marys, died 12:05 A.M. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Saint Marys Living Center.

She was born March 7, 1908, in Saint Marys, the daughter of George and Emma (Aubach) Hirsch.

She married John F. Gibson on March 7, 1933; he preceded her in death on November 25, 1977.

She is survived by her son, George (Janet) Gibson of Saint Marys; by a grandson, John (Dorian) Gibson of Stella, North Carolina; by two great-grandchildren: Lauren and Ashten Gibson; by two nephews: Ken Hirsch (and partner Tom Hundley) of Lima; Steve (Kendra) Hirsch of Saint Marys.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Leo and Jerome Hirsch; by a sister, Cornelia “Kitty” Dicke.

Kathryn was a 1926 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She had worked for many years at the former Kroger Grocery Store in Saint Marys during the 1930’s and 1940’s. She also assisted in the operation of the family farm. She was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ and the Women’s Guild of the church. She enjoyed playing cards, was an avid reader, and loved spending time with her family.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, the Reverend Ed Bray, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ. Condolences may be sent to the family via Millerfuneralhomes.net
