Trina Christine Gast, 45, of 11262 State Route 29, New Knoxville, Ohio, died 8:10 A.M. Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born November 9, 1962, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Allen and Margaret “Marge” (Smith) Henschen. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in New Knoxville.

She married Steven Gast on July 1, 1991, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; he survives at the residence.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her two brothers: Terry Henschen of New Knoxville; Tom (Marlene) Henschen of New Knoxville; by a niece and nephew Tyler and Kelly Henschen of New Knoxville; by her in-laws, Chet and Anne Gast of Spencerville; by numerous friends; by her three sisters-in-law, Sherry (Mark) Henschen of New Knoxville; Mary (Toby) Strayer of Spencerville; Cathy (Don) Sobosly of Orlando, Florida; her brother-in-law, David (Bobby) Whitney of Saint Marys.

Trina was preceded in death by her father, Allen Henschen; by her grandparents, Herman and Louise (Eschmeyer) Henschen; Carl and Marcile (Hoy) Smith.

Trina was a 1981 graduate of New Knoxville High School. She was the owner and proprietor of the Calico Cow and Cranberry Barn, a shop which sells gifts and primitive wares in rural New Knoxville. She was a very kind, social person and loved running her shop.

She was a member of Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen. She enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables and attending auctions and flea markets.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 29, 2008, at the Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, Ohio, the Reverend Tom Seger and the Reverend Dean Greenwood, officiants. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, where memorial donations may be directed to one of the following: Gideons International; Auglaize County Cancer Association; Grand Lake Hospice or Faith Alliance Church.
