She was born March 31, 1940, in Arcanum, Ohio.
 

She married Keith Rhoades and he preceded her in death. She married Joseph Gaeke on June 18, 2002 and he survives at Otterbein Saint Marys.

She is survived by her two children: Elizabeth Burton of Troy, Ohio; Susan (Ron) Bennett of Tipp City, Ohio; by four step-children: Jennifer (Mark) Zeller of Troy; Barbara (Sam) Booth of Xenia; Elizabeth (Scott) Hamilton of Kettering; Mary Ann (Rob) Gettell of Centerville; by six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and one sister.
 

Dixie was a 1958 graduate of Kaiser High School. She retired from Remax Realty in Troy and Tipp City, where she had been a secretary. She had formerly worked at Prudential Insurance in Troy. 

She was a very active resident at Otterbein Saint Marys, having made numerous video and still photography presentations for the campus; she also served on many resident committees at Otterbein Saint Marys.
 

Funeral rites will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2011, in the Meyer Community Chapel on the campus of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, State Route 364, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Carol Sainey, officiant. Burial rites will be held Thursday in Tipp City, Ohio.

Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services Wednesday at Otterbein Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Otterbein.
