Ruby I. Freewalt, 88, of 1903 Winston Drive in St.Marys, OH died 4:20 a.m. Sunday August 23, 2009 at the Otterbein Retirement Community, near Grand Lake St.Marys. 

She was born December 9, 1920 in Fryburg, OH to Raymond and Hazel (Schlegel) Thomas. 

On April 10, 1943 she married Daniel D. Freewalt, who died October 14, 2001.

She was preceded in death by: parents;, husband; sister, Leona Butcher, step-mother, Reva Thomas; step-brothers: David Ruff, William Turner 

She was a 1939 graduate of Buckland High School. 

She retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St.Marys, where she worked as a finisher. 

She was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church, life member of American Legion Post # 323 auxiliary, life member and past president of VFW Post # 9289 auxiliary and a member of Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767 auxiliary, all in St.Marys. 

Her pastimes included making crafts, gardening, cooking and gambling. She and her husband volunteered countless hours of their time to the area veterans’ organizations. In their younger years, they had enjoyed roller-skating together. 

Services are scheduled 10:30 a.m. Thursday August 27, 2009 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314  W. High Street in St.Marys, OH, with the Rev. Mary Kay Brown, officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery, in St.Marys.   

 Visitation for family and friends will be held  6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home on High Street.
