Ronald L. Freewalt, 70, formerly of St.Marys, OH, died early Saturday morning March 28, 2009 at his residence in Wooster, following a battle with cancer.


He was born August 16, 1938 in St.Marys, OH to Robert L. & Mildred M. (Dudgeon) Freewalt.


On March 2, 1957, he married Mary A. Cunningham, who died November 24, 2004.

He then married Margie (Angle) DePriest October 19, 2006, and she survives.


He is also survived by:

                             son John Freewalt  of Glenmont, OH

                             son Jeffrey (Patty) Freewalt  of Big Prairie, OH

                             son Jay (Gloria) Freewalt  of Wooster, OH

                             step-son Gary DePriest  of Big Prairie, OH

                             step-son Kenneth DePriest  of Wooster, OH

                             step-son Chris DePriest  of Urichsville, OH

                             8 grandchildren   7 step-grandchildren   3 great-grandchildren

                             brother Wayne (Sandy) Freewalt  of St.Marys, Oh

                             brother Gerald “Oscar” Freewalt  of St.Marys, OH

                             brother Greg Freewalt  of St.Marys, OH

                             numerous nieces & nephews


He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and brother Kenneth Freewalt


He was a 1956 graduate of Memorial High School in St.Marys.


He retired in 2007 from Gross Lumber Co. in Apple Creek, OH, where he was a timber buyer. He had also worked at Pallet-All Mfg. in Millersburg, OH and had previously farmed in both the St.Marys and Delaware, OH areas. In addition, he also transported Amish men to and from work sites.


He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Millersburg.


 He enjoyed boating, camping and fishing.


Services are scheduled 1:00 p.m. Tuesday March 31, 2009 at  the Miller Funeral Home (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St.Marys, with the Rev. James Butler, officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery, in St.Marys.


Visitation will be held 5 – 8 p.m. Monday at the Murray Funeral Home in Fredricksburg and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home in St.Marys.


Memorial contributions may be directed to either the Wayne Street UMC building fund or the Hospice of Greater Wayne Co.
