Clifford E. Fetters, 84, of 105 Maple Street, Saint Marys, died 7:45 P.M. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the Valley Nursing Home in Saint Marys, where he had resided for the past three years.
He was born February 22, 1926, in Celina, the son of Wilbur Fetters and Mary (Muter) Fetters Schoenleben. Both of his parents preceded him in death.
He married Dorothy Frischkorn on December 14, 1943 and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2000.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann (Stephen) Kettler of Saint Marys; by three grandchildren: Stephanie (Dean) Barnett of Columbus; Stephen (Ruth) Kettler of Saint Marys; Kimberley (Deny) Morlino of Saint Marys; by 10 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; by a brother, Bud Schoenleben of Celina; two sisters: Ruth Ruvoldt of Saint Marys and Helen Thompson of Celina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Vera Halderman; by a
great-granddaughter, Rachel Harris.
Cliff was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during WWII.
He was retired from Saint Marys Trucking Company, where he had driven a truck for 30 years. He later worked at Crown Equipment in New Bremen and was the owner of Cliff’s Mower Service in Saint Marys for many years. He had served as Fourth Ward City Councilman and he loved spending time drinking coffee and talking politics with local police at his mower shop. He enjoyed watching sports and old western movies.
Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Reverend Mary Kay Brown, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until the time of services at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to Cliff’s family.
