Dr. Larry R. Fairbanks, 58, of 2006 Emerald Court, Saint Marys, Ohio, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at his residence. Auglaize County Coroner Dr. Thomas Freytag has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.

He was born August 29, 1949, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of Edward and Bernice (Woody) Fairbanks.

He married Kathy McCoy on March 29, 1969, in Covington, Kentucky. She survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his two children: Julie (Kevin) Quinn of Ringgold, Georgia; Russ (Kelly) Fairbanks, Jr of London, Ohio; by two grandchildren: Savannah and Sydney Quinn; by one brother, Dr. LeBron Fairbanks of Lakeland, Florida; a sister, Carolyn Lawson of Saint Marys.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one infant brother, Charles.

Dr. Fairbanks was a 1967 graduate of Hialeah High School in Hialeah, Florida; a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn; Faith Christian College in Morgantown, Kentucky and he received his master’s degree and his Doctorate of Ministry from Covington Theological Seminary.

He served as a pastor with the Church of the Nazarene for 28 years, having ministered in Inez, Kentucky; Gary, Indiana; Pottstown, PA; Augusta, Maine; Hamilton, Ohio; Chattanooga, Tenn; and Findlay, Ohio. He was currently serving as District Superintendent of the Northwestern Ohio District, Church of the Nazarene, a post he has held for the past 10 years.

He was a great man of God who cared deeply for people.

Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 4, 2008, at the J.E. Shankel Auditorium at the Northwest Ohio Nazarene District Center, Jack Oak Point Road, Saint Marys.

Friends may call from 3-6 P.M. Sunday at the Celina Church of The Nazarene.

Additional funeral rites will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Battlefield Parkway Church of the Nazarene, 3220 Battlefield Parkway Drive, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, the Reverend Joe Brown, officiant. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services on Wednesday at the church, where memorial donations may be directed to the Northwest Ohio Nazarene District Center, 272 Jack Oak Point Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, 45885.
