Julia Eggleston, 86, a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, died 8:20 P.M. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Otterbein Saint Marys. She had resided at Otterbein Saint Marys for 10 years and previously had lived at the Westmoor Retirement Center in Toledo.

She was born September 1, 1924, in Durant City, Pennsylvania, (now named James City, Pa.), the daughter of John and Margaret (Collins) Rau.

She married Lawrence Brown and he preceded her in death. She then married Arthur Eggleston and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Richard) Brackman of Maria Stein, Ohio; by a step-daughter, Ms. Carol Valencia of California; by four grandchildren: Cynthia Cornell-Braun (Mark Briggs) of Saint Marys, Ohio; Laureen (Randall) Lininger of Saint Marys; Kent Cornell of Edgerton, Ohio; Nathan Cornell of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; by a step-grandchild, Patricia Smith of Phoenix, Arizona; by her great-grandchildren: Morgan Braun; Angie Lininger; Derek Lininger; by her great-great grandchildren: Riley Benoit and Lilly Benoit. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Frank (Wilma) Rau of Knoxville, Tennessee; Ben Huston of Helena, Montana; Sharon (Dan) Campling of Findlay, Ohio; Myrna Puse of Spring Lake, Michigan; John (Misty) Rau of Globe, Arizona.

Julia attended Oakdale and Waite High Schools in Toledo, Ohio. She retired from the General Motors Hydromatic Plant on Alexis Road in Toledo, where she had managed the Suggestion and Awards Program in the personnel department. She was active in the Toledo Business and Womens’ Club and had served as president of that organization; a member of the Shriner Chanteretts; a Junior Achievement Advisor; volunteered at WGTE Public Television and the Toledo Diabetes Association; a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Maria Stein, Ohio and the Saint Ann’s Sodality of the church; a member of the Maria Stein American Legion Auxiliary. She leaves behind many friends and loved ones she met along the path of her life.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 25, 2010, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Maria Stein, Father Thomas Brenberger, CPPS,celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Sunday and one hour prior to the funeral mass on Monday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Grand Lake Hospice or the Diabetes Association.
