Joyce C. Doenges, 81, of 408 Jackson St. in Wapakoneta, OH, died 12:10 a.m. Wednesday May 20, 2009 at St.Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, OH.

She was born January 21, 1928 in Sandusky, OH to Vinal and Delilah (Gaw) Akerman.

On November 2, 1946 in Vaughnsville, OH, she married Raymond C. Doenges, who survives.

• sister Sandra (Tom) Brown of Grover Hill, OH
• brother-in-law Jim Geething of Van Wert, OH

She was preceded in death by her parents and  sisters: Priscilla Akerman, Joanne Akerman and Carolyn Geething

She was a graduate of the Grover Hill High School.  She was a homemaker and retired form the former Home Banking Co. in downtown St.Marys, where she specialized in commercial auto lending.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta and a former member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St.Marys.

She had been an avid runner, having won numerous marathons. She also enjoyed bowling, line dancing and spending winters at the family home in Nokomis, FL.

Funeral services are scheduled 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 23, 2009 at the Wayne Street United Methodist Church 130 N. Wayne St. in St.Marys, with the Rev. R.J. Davis and the Rev. Mary Kay Brown, officiating. Burial will follow at the North Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, near Grover Hill, OH.

Visitation 4 - 7 p.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road in St.Marys and after 10::00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
