Lee “Vern” Dicke, 91, formerly of 431 North Wayne Street, and a resident of the Saint Marys Living Center since 1999, died 6:45 A.M. Thursday, August 26, 2010, at the Saint Marys Living Center.

He was born August 19, 1919, in Mercer County, Ohio, the son of Florience and Anna (Moler) Dicke, Sr.

He is survived by his two brothers: Florience “Dick” (Trudy) Dicke, Jr. of Saint Marys; Lester Dicke of Saint Marys; a sister, Marjorie Silvers of Saint Marys; by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Sylvanus and Donald Dicke; two sisters: Edna Hudson and Mary Margaret Dicke.

Vern was a retired farmer. He really enjoyed life. He loved going to the Auglaize County Council on Aging to socialize, and he was a member of their “Kitchen Band”. He was a member of Saint Marys Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral rites will be held 2:00 Monday, August 30, 2010, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon until time of services at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to Saint Marys Missionary Baptist Church.
