Kathleen DiScenza of 17 Meadowview Terrace, New Bremen, OH died 5:46 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 at her residence. 

She was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand on September 28, 1948, the daughter of James and Dorothea (Edwards) McDermott. 

On January 23, 1998, in Sidney, OH, she was married to Larry Bruce DiScenza, who survives at the residence.  

She is also survived by:

Daughter, Lisa Tudor-Cole of New Plymouth, New Zealand

Daughter, Jennifer (Fiance’ Chad Crofskey) Tudor-Cole of New Plymouth, New Zealand

2 Grandsons, Kace and Luca Crofskey

Brother, Bruce McDermott of Huntley, New Zealand

Brother, Larry McDermott of Christ Church, New Zealand

Mother-in-law, Janet (Jim) Doseck of New Bremen, OH

Brother-in-law, Bill Damron (Sheila Nichols) of Jackson Center, OH

Brother-in-law, Cliff Damron (Delight) of St.Marys, OH

Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews 

She was deceased by her parents; sisters, Peggy McDermott and June McDermott; brothers, Don McDermott and Tony McDermott. 

She attended school in New Zealand.  She was a homemaker and a professional calligraphist, and was an avid computer user.  She was a participant in Leisure Marching in New Zealand,  where girls meet and march for fitness, friendship and fun.   She was commissioned to do a calligraphy project for the government of New Zealand for the Treaty of Waitangi.  This project commemorated the signing of a treaty between the Maori People and the British Crown on February 7, 1840.  Waitangi is considered the birthplace of the nation of New Zealand and Waitangi Treaty Grounds is considered New Zealand’s preeminent historical site. 

A time of remembrance will be celebrated 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road in St. Marys.  Private family burial will take place in New Zealand.
