Lyle A. Dammeyer, 80, of 02702 Waesch Road St. Marys died unexpectedly at 1:54 AM Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 at the Rhodes Medical Center, Columbus, OH.
Lyle was born March 29, 1929 in New Bremen, OH the son of Leonard and Clara (Stienecker)Dammeyer.
He married Ellen J. Marlatt on June 20, 1953 at St. Paul’s in New Bremen and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by son, Michael (Judy) Dammeyer of New Bremen and daughter, Melissa (Jay) Wilson of Findlay, OH; three grandchildren, Lindsay, Bryan and Jason Dammeyer and by his brother, Ned (Lois) Dammeyer of Wapakoneta, OH..
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Verneda Moeller.
Lyle was a 1947 graduate of New Bremen High School. He was a life long dairy and grain farmer. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, fishing, shooting pool, playing cards and he was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes. He was a former member of American Legion Post #241 in New Bremen and the National Ayrshire Breeders Association. Most of all in life he loved to be with his family.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Lima, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at 10:30AM at the Miller Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1605 Celina Road with Reader Ann Basil officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the services at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road.
Memorials may be directed to the First Church of Christ, Scientist or to the donor’s charity of choice.
