Chester H. Dammeyer, 81, of 2108 Cambridge Court in St.Marys, OH died 10:30 p.m. Wednesday April 28, 2010 in the emergency department of JTDM Hospital in St.Marys, following a sudden illness.

He was born June 13, 1928 in St.Marys Township in Auglaize Co., OH to Elmer and Anna (Quellhorst) Dammeyer.

On September 24, 1950, in St.Marys, OH, he married B. Joanne Hoselton.

• daughter, Nancy Morgan of Denver, CO.
• son, Terry (Shawna) Dammeyer of Indian Hill, OH
• son, Nicholas (Carolyn) Dammeyer of Celina, OH
• 8 grandchildren: Danielle Rolfes, Neil (Magda) Rolfes, Aaron Morgan, Zachary (Jenna Williams) Dammeyer, Cory Dammeyer, Alex Dammeyer, Elizabeth Dammeyer, Allison Dammeyer
• 2 great-grandchildren: Camron Dammeyer, Ada Rolfes
• sister, Ruth (Willis) Henschen of St.Marys, OH
• sister, Mary (Arlan) Smith of Celina, OH
• sister-in-law, Wanda Dammeyer of St.Marys, OH
• son-in-law, Stuart Hazlett of Alexandria, VA

He was preceded in death by: parents; daughter, Christine Hazlett; brother Louis Dammeyer

He was a  1946 graduate of Memorial High School in St.Marys, OH.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.

He retired from the St.Marys office of the United States Post Office after thirty years. He also owned and operated the S - W Motel and Apartments for many years in St.Marys.

He was a member of St.Paul’s United Church of Christ and for was a long-time former member of Kiwanis and St.Marys Outing Club (Idlewild), all in St.Marys.

His favorite pastime was attending the various sporting activities of his grandchildren. He was known to play an occasional round of golf and, along with his wife, enjoyed socializing with their close circle of friends.

Services are scheduled 8:00 p.m. Monday May 3, 2010 at Miller Funeral & Cremation Service 1605 Celina Road in St.Marys, with The Rev. Dr. Ed Bray, officiating. Military rites will be conducted immediately following the services.

Visitation 6 - 8 p.m. for family and friends will be held on Monday at the funeral home.
