LaVonne M. Dahl, 87, of 1711 Winston Drive, Saint Marys, and formerly of Monterey Park, California, died 1:45 Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in Saint Marys.

She was born July 2, 1921, on the family farm in Barron County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ole and Lilly(Nelson) Lien.

She married John Dahl on October 12, 1946; he preceded her in death on March 8, 1982.

She is survived by one daughter: Vicki (John) Reynolds of Saint Marys; by one brother, Clifford Lien of Barron, Wisconsin.

LaVonne was the youngest of ten children She was preceded in death her siblings: Ingram Lien; Olga Otto; Arthur Lien; Otis Lien; William Lien; Mable Laffoon; Sally Tulgren and Verna Mulder. She was also preceded in death by her parents and husband.

LaVonne graduated from a country school in Clear Lake, Wisconsin in 1939. She had worked for many years in a pharmacy in Monterey Park, California; she had also worked in a war factory during WWII.

LaVonne had belonged to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monterey Park, where she was an active member and volunteer. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining and gardening, had been active in the school PTA for many years and had been a Girl Scout Leader. She was a very devoted mother and wonderful friend. She moved to Ohio in 1986 to be close to her daughter and supported the ministries of the Way International in New Knoxville, Ohio.

Private family services will be held and burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, Arkansas. Memorial donations may be directed to the ministry of the Way International. . Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio.
