Billie Sue Culp, 63, of 2760 Troy-Sidney Road, Troy, Ohio, died 6:50 P.M. Thursday, October 27, 2009, at the James Cancer Center in Columbus.

She was born November 8, 1945, in Enterprise, Alabama, the daughter of William Mullins and Pearl (Comer) Farr.

She married Glenn Culp on November 21, 1976; he survives in Troy.

She is also survived by her mother, Pearl Farr of Detroit, Michigan; by two daughters: Lashan (Brian) Henry of Fayetteville, Georgia; Stephanie Gillespie of Fayetteville, Georgia; by a step-daughter, Candie (Dan) Trick of Vandalia, Ohio; by three grandchildren; two-step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerome (Debra) Walker of Dallas, Texas; by a close circle of women from the Thursday night prayer group.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Billie worked hard at everything she did. She grew as much in the last ten years of her life as she did in the first ten years. Billie grew stronger in her faith, happier in her marriage, more loving as a mother, more responsible and attentive as a daughter, and more secure in who she was as an individual. Her focus was on bettering herself so that she might have more to give to those who crossed her paths and to those whom she loved. Her wonderful sense of humor and sweet smile will be missed by many. Most recently she had worked at Bob Evans Restaurant in Tipp City. She was a Sunday School teacher at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where she has been a member for 33 years. Billie recently attended an Emmaus Walk in Sidney and was a faithful participant in one of the church prayer groups for seven years.

Billie fought through many battles successfully. This last battle with cancer did take it’s toll on her body. However, her life continues on without that body and this knowledge gave her great comfort at the end. Billie’s greatest hope was that she left this earth, people would know she was a woman of faith who loves Jesus Christ.

Funeral rites will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 1, 2009, at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, the Reverend Dr. David Williams, officiant. Burial will follow at the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Saturday, October 31, 2009, in the Heritage Room of the First United Church of Christ, where memorial donations may be directed to the First United Church of Christ.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home in
