Vernon Leroy “Pappy” Castle, Jr., 59, of 338 North Defiance St., St.Marys, OH died 7:02 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St.Marys, OH. 

He was born February 6, 1949 in Sidney, OH, the son of Vernon Leroy and Lela (Fleming) Castle.  They preceded him in death. 

He married Marlene Foster on July 7, 1967.  She survives in Sidney, OH. 

He is survived by:

¨ Son, John Castle, Mendon, OH

¨ Son, Patrick Castle, St.Marys, OH

¨ Son, Michael Castle, Sidney, OH

¨ 15 grandchildren

¨ Sister, Darlene (John) Moorman, St.Marys, OH 

He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant siblings. 

Pappy had been a press operator in the tool and die industry.  He was Christian by faith. 

He enjoyed fishing, especially cat fishing.  He was known in the family as “Chair-fisherman” for his ability to fish while sitting down.  He also enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, the Rev. Bill Drummond, officiant.  Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to Pappy's family.
