James S. Carmean, 89, of 05070 Co. Rd. 33-A in St. Marys, OH died 4:40 p.m. Wednesday October 27, 2010 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys.

He was born September 28, 1921on a farm in Auglaize Co., near Kossuth, OH to Frederick and Eunice (Williams) Carmean.

Many years ago, he married Mary May Martin in Kentucky, and she survives.

He is also survived by:

• daughter, Diana (Arthur) Nungester of Lima, OH
• daughter, Darlene Vaubel of Lima, OH

5 grandchildren numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a retired executive with the Midwest Electric Co-operative in St. Marys, where he was supervisor of power use.

Extremely active with 4-H, he served as advisor to the St. Marys Fusebusters Club for many years. In addition, he was selected to serve on numerous county and state-level committees for 4-H.

In 1973, while employed with Midwest, he was chosen to receive the first-ever Sales Award from the National Electric Farm Council in 1973.

He was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys.

Graveside funeral rites will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday November 1, 2010 at Elm Grove Cemetery 631 Greenville Road in St. Marys, with the Rev. Steve Weatherly, officiating.
