Shirley “Shirt” Byerley, 73, of 231 Jack Oak Point Road, St.Marys, OH died 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7,2008 at her residence from complications of ALS (Lou Gerhig’s Disease). 

She was born July 14,1935 in St.Marys, OH, the daughter of Arthur and Viola  (Osterfeld) Klosterman. 

She married Dewaine Byerley on November 10, 1956; he survives at the residence.   

She is survived by:

¨ Daughter, Beth (Steve) Reciniti of Oak Ridge, NC

¨ 2 grandchildren:  Greg Byerley of Middleburg, FL and Ashley Powers of Oakridge, NC

¨ 7 sisters:  Betty Lengerich of St.Marys, OH; Jean (Donald) Boes of Gahanna, OH; Marie “Mert” (John) Humphries of St.Marys, OH; Kay (John) Seibert of Coldwater, OH; Becky (Denny) Link of Bethel, OH; Chrissie (Howard) Chunnic of St.Marys, OH; Judy (David) Fuller of St.Marys, OH

¨ 9 brothers:  Don Klossterman, Lima, OH; Tom (Barb) Klosterman of Celina, OH; Bernard (Carol) Klosterman of St.Marys, OH; Dale (Marcia) Klosterman of Van Wert,OH; Bob (Ronda) Klosterman of St.Marys, OH; John (Cindy) Klosterman of St.Marys, OH; Jerry (Delilah) Klosterman of St.Marys, OH; Dick (Catherine) Klosterman of St.Marys, OH; Dave Klosterman of St.Marys,OH. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carolyn Hawkins. 

Shirley was a 1953 graduate of St.Marys Memorial High School.  She was a homemaker and had worked as a representative for Avon for 30 years.  An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing cards (especially poker) and spending time with her family and friends.  She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St.Marys and its Altar/Rosary Sodality.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 511 E. Spring St., Fr. Jim Seibert, celebrant.  Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St.Marys, OH.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday and 9:30 - 10:30 Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, OH.  Memorial donations may be directed to the ALS Association for Research.
