Alice M. Burnett, 89, formerly of 750 Hillcrest Drive, Saint Marys, died 1:15 P.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the Gardens of Celina.

She was September 28, 1918, in Delphos, Ohio, the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Chapman) Hirn.

She married Elmer “Butch” Burnett on September 23, 1935; he preceded her in death in June of 1995.

She is survived by three children: John “Jack” (Liz) Burnett of Yuba City, California; David (Donna) Burnett of Spencerville; Timothy (Sandy) Burnett of Somerset, Virginia; by two sons-in-law, Don Ruff of Ridgecrest, California; Lee Sudman of Saint Marys; by thirteen grandchildren: John R. Burnett, Jr. of California; Christine (Bob) Wade of Oregon; Barbara Phillips of Arizona; Jeanette (Michael) Pacier of Massachusetts; Elaine (Eugene) Wagner of New Mexico; Amber (Patrick) Wise of Texas; Nick Burnett of Spencerville; Don Burnett of Spencerville; Leslie (Ben) Rupert of Saint Marys; Ron (Michelle) Sudman of Saint Marys; Jennifer (James) Willis of New Mexico; Robert (Tonya) Burnett of California; Leonard Burnett of California; by 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters: Lynda Sudman and Shirley Ann Ruff; 3 sisters: Helene Bradford, Katherine Ross and Edna Goodnow; 6 brothers: Ernest, Earl, John, Philip, Clarence and Carl Hirn.

Alice had been a telephone operator in Spencerville and also had worked at Goodyear Saint Marys. She was a homemaker on the family farm.
She was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards and shuffleboard. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Mary Kay Brown, officiant. Burial will follow at Wright Cemetery.
