L. Kathleen Bricker, 87, of 801 Kimberly Drive, Saint Marys, and formerly of Houston, Texas, died 8:06 A.M. Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Valley Nursing Home in Saint Marys. She had moved to Saint Marys from Houston in 1994 to be near her family.

She was born August 16, 1922, in Nashville, Arkansas, the daughter of Fonnie and Molly (Norman) Elder.

She married James E. Bricker on September 8, 1942; he preceded her in death on December 10, 1993.

She is survived by her two daughters: Janet (Joseph) Prukop of Alexandria, Virginia; Kay (Joseph) Kuebler of Saint Marys; by five grandchildren: David Prukop of San Francisco; Victoria (Joseph) Allen-Sanchez of Colorado Springs; Steven Prukop of Alexandria; James (Leslie) Kuebler of Columbus, Ohio; Rebecca Kuebler of Gainesville, Florida; by three great-grandchildren; by two sisters: Irene Keesler of Gilbert, Az; Betty (Eugene) McRorie of Matthews, North Carolina; by close friends: Trish Mabry; Dot (Barry) Silvers; Lil (Larry) Heitkamp; Sis (Gene) Rhoades; by an uncle, J.S. Norman, Jr of Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Gertrude Elliot; her husband, a grandchild, Kenneth Prukop.

Kathleen was a 1940 graduate of Mt. St. Michael’s Catholic Convent in Dallas, Tx. She was a hairdresser and had worked at Plaza Salon of Beauty in Houston for many years. She had also worked as a data processor at the J.E. Bricker Billing Service. She was a member of the Saint Marys Art Association; she had been an art instructor, teaching china painting. She was an artist who worked in many media, including china painting, porcelain dolls, oil painting, portraiture, and acrylic and watercolors. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, and its Legion Of Mary. She had formerly belonged to St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, where she had been one of the founding members of the parish.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, June 21, 2010, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, The Reverend Pat Slonaker, celebrant.
Burial will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas later in the week.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
