William E. Boltz, 84, a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, Saint Marys, died 8:10 P.M. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Otterbein Saint Marys.
He was born March 3, 1926, in Saint Marys, the son of Harry and Elizabeth (Miller) Boltz.
He is survived by his ten children: Jerry (Sondra) Boltz of Monticello, Florida; Ken (Rose) Cline of Saint Marys; Patricia Miller of Stow, Ohio; Terri Revolt of Spencerville; Debbie (Robert) Smothers of Mendon; Linda Boltz; Kathy Boltz; Judy Boltz; Bill Boltz and Bruce Boltz (editor’s note: these five children request that their cities of residence not be listed in the obit, thus the omission. Thanks for your help with this issue.)
He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; by his siblings: Mary Ann Brotherwood of Saint Marys; Louis Boltz of Saint Marys; Jean Ackley of Saint Marys; Jane Boltz of Celina; by his close friends, Thelma (Ron) Street of Saint Marys and Julie Dieringer of Saint Marys.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce Blackstock; a brother, Harry Boltz, Jr; two sisters, Esther Boltz and Louise McDermitt.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during WWII. He retired from the Saint Marys Municipal Power Plant.
Bill was a member of the former Saint Marys Church of Christ. He was also a life-member of VFW Post 9289 in Saint Marys. He enjoyed riding his bike, doing all kinds of landscaping and gardening work, painting and shopping.
Funeral rites will be held 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Jerry Boltz officiant, where VFW Post 9289 will conduct military honors. Private family burial rites will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M Wednesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may made to VFW Post 9289 Honor Guard.
