George A. Berron, 87, formerly of Muncie, IN, and a resident of the Valley Nursing Home in St.Marys, died 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Valley Nursing Home.
He was born January 16, 1922 in St.Marys, the son of Carl and Erma (Rasneor) Berron.
He first married Rose Elizabeth Myrenius and she survives in Lima, OH; he later married Bernadine Stanley and she preceded him in death on March 19, 1998.
He is survived by:

¨ Step-son, Barry (Anne) Bates of Georgia
¨ Step-son, Timothy (Ellen) Bates of Michigan
¨ 5 grandchildren
¨ 4 step-grandchildren
¨ 6 great-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren
¨ Brother, Marvin Berron of Ft.Wayne, IN
¨ Sister, Martha Sprague of St.Marys, OH
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernadine; a son-in-law, George Spencer; a granddaughter, Nan Grunden.
George was a 1939 graduate of St.Marys Memorial High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving as a tail gunner during WWII. Upon returning from the war, he assisted in the construction of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St.Marys. Following the completion of the construction project, he was employed by Goodyear until his retirement.
He was a life member of American Legion Post 323 in St.Marys. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo and collected die cast auto miniatures. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in St.Marys.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church in St.Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki, officiant, where members of the American Legion Post 323 and VFW Post 9289 will conduct military rites. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson, IN.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High St., St.Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
