Robert J. Bayham, 95, of 04370 Poppe Road, Saint Marys, died Monday, August 15, 2011, at his residence.

He was born March 14, 1916, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Frank and Flora (Hobler) Bayham. He married Cecilia M. Bochenek on January 5, 1946 and she preceded him in death on October 3, 2008.

He is survived by his thirteen children: Edward (Beverly) Bayham of St. Louis, MO; Cynthia (William) Newlin of Dayton; Dennis Bayham of Dayton; Sandra (William) Evanoff of Indianapolis; Marilyn (William) Stewart of Fairborn, Ohio; Andrew (Amee) Bayham of Louisville, Ohio; Cecilia Pechler of Huber Heights, Ohio; Loretta (Suhbash) Verma of Mason, Ohio; Margie (Doug) Whitling of Saint Marys; Paul (Annette) Bayham of Saint Marys; Ray (Helen) Bayham of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Teresa Young of Parkton, MD; Robert (Tammy) Bayham of Saint Marys; also survived by 38 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Patrick Bayham.He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force and a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He graduated from Kiser High School in Dayton. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, and Honorary Life Member and a past Grand Knight of Council #1592, Knights of Columbus. He was a life member and past commander of American Legion Post 44, in New Knoxville; a life member of VFW Post 9289 in Saint Marys. He was a life member and Ohio State Chairman, Emeritus, of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Assocation in Dayton.

In 1972 he moved his family to a little farm just south of Saint Marys along the Miami-Erie Canal, where he raised chickens and rabbits. He was an avid reader.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:00 A.M. Friday, August 19, 2011, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, the Reverend Anthony Cutcher, celebrant. Burial, with full military rites, will follow at 11:45 A.M. at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Holy Rosary School Library in Saint Marys, to purchase reading books for the students.
