John "Jack" Ball, 77, died at 4:51 p.m. November 14,2008 at Ohio State University, Columbus, OH.
He was born Feb.27,1931 in Franklin, OH to John and Rose Winker Ball, who preceded him in death.
On January 16,1954 he married Grace Brotherwood, who survives in St.Marys, OH.
Mr. Ball was retired from Fort Motor Company, Lima, OH after 28 and a half years of service. He was a member of St.Marys Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 767, both in St.Marys. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making model trains and planes and working on cars. He was a fun loving person who loved his family dearly. He was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
Survivors include nine children, John (Jodie) Ball, Theresa (John) Holsinger, Tim (Julie) Ball, Dale (Debbie) Ball, Lisa (Tim) Manson, and Kathy (Todd) Wint, all of St.Marys; Becky Ball of Wapakoneta; Belinda (Joe) Nuttle of Van Wert; and Sandra (Allen) Hesse of Mendon; 32 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Also, brother, Raymond (Jean) Ball of St.Marys and two sisters, Rachael Stienecker of St.Marys and Romona (Jim) Moore of St.Marys.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Ball; two sisters, Pat Leahman and Harriett Young, and two grandsons, John Holsinger and Joseph Hitchen.
Funeral rites will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, OH. Pastor Alva Daniels will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with military rites.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St.Marys Missionary Baptist Church.
