Marjorie P. Baird, 92, 11302 Bobwhite Lane, St. Marys died at 10:30 pm Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Otterbein - St. Marys Retirement Center after a brief illness.

 

Marge was born December 29, 1916 in Sidney, OH. at the family residence, the daughter of Tully and Anna (Pfefferle) Potter.

 

She was first married to long time Sidney teacher, E. J. Hammann and he preceded her in death in 1961. On Jtme 15, 1974 she married Elbert Baird at the First Methodist Church in Sidney and

he survives at the residence.

 

She is survived by two sons: James J. Hammann, New Orleans, La. and Joseph P. Hammann, Tipp City, Ohio. She is also survived by her brother Thomas (Ann) Potter, Whispering Pines,

North Carolina.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, her sisters: Helen Lees and Frances Dilbone Anderson and her brothers: Donald, Robert and Paul Potter.

 

She was a 1933 graduate of Sidney High School. During her professional career she was the administrative assistant in the law office of Urban Dooley; the court reporter for Shelby County;

the administrative assistant at Parkwood Junior High (Northwood) and at the Stolle Corp. from which she retired in 1978.

 

She was a long standing member of the First Methodist Church where she served on the Official Board and currently is a member ofthe Methodist Church in New Knoxville, OH.

Marge was a member and past president of the Sidney Altrusa Club; a founding member of the Sidney Theater Guild and an avid reader. She was a confident crossword puzzle solver who

worked in ink. She loved her family and was a loyal friend to many who knew her warmth and nurturing kindness.

 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 1:30 pm in the Meyer Chapel of the Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Center with the Rev. Dennis Gaertner officiating. Burial will

follow at a later date in the Graceland Cemetery of Sidney.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday April 25 from 1 pm until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the Otterbein Retirement Community where the Baird's have

resided for 15 years.
