Mary M. Axe, 89, of St. Marys died on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the JTDMH in St. Marys, OH. 

Mary was born January 15, 1922 in St. Marys, OH., the daughter of August “Gus”
and Nettie Mae (Bower) Schaffer. 

She married Richard “Red” Axe on Dec. 24, 1945 in St. Marys and he preceded her in death in 1978. 

She is survived by her two daughters: Sharon (Otto) Schrolucke of St. Marys and Pamela Axe of St. Marys.  She is also survived by her granddaughter, Susan (Jeffery) Long of Bridgman, Michigan and great grandsons, Nathan and Brandon Long of Bridgman, Michigan. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers: Orley”Mike” and Ferd Schaffer and sisters: Hazel Vining, Goldie Slemmons and Lonnie Harruff. 

Mary attended the St. Marys City schools and she was a dedicated homemaker her entire adult life.  She enjoyed needlework, jig saw puzzles, cooking and her soap operas.  Her family was her passion and spoiling her granddaughter was her life time mission.  Mary was a very loving and humble person who will be missed by her family. 

Visitation will be held Monday, August 8, 2011 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Miller-Long & Folk

 Funeral Home, 314 W. High St. with Pastor Robert Warren officiating a service on Tuesday, August 9, 2011  at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Moulton, OH. 

The family prefers that memorials be directed to donor’s choice.
