Frank A. Axe, 86, of 11722 Kingfisher Lane in St. Marys, OH died p.m. Sunday November 27, 2011 at Otterbein – St. Marys.
He was born September 25, 1925 in St. Marys, OH to Frank W. and Beatrice (Kenefake) Axe.
On November 25, 1948 at St. Henry Catholic Church, he married Pauline J. Muhlenkamp, who survives.
He is also survived by:
son, Gary (Winona) Axe of Troy, OH
daughter, Jean Ann (Marty) Lohmuller of Granger, IN
son, Robert Axe of Milford Center, OH
sister, Rita Miley of St. Marys, OH
9 grandchildren
2 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant children Mary Axe and Joseph Axe, sister Gean Axe, brother Patrick Axe, brother Thomas Axe.
Frank was a veteran of the US Navy and was awarded 5 stars for his service in the Asiatic – Pacific Theatre during World War II.
He retired after 40 years from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys, where he was a master machinist.
He was a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 1492 and VFW Post # 9289, all in St. Marys.
An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he traveled throughout the United States with his friends.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled 10:30 a.m. December 1, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 511 E. Spring Street in St. Marys, with the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher, celebrant. Burial, with full graveside military rites, will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 2- 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:15 – 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys.
