Mildred C. Armstrong, 84, of 608 East Spring Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 10:15 P.M. Friday, April 23, 2010, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in Saint Marys.
She was born August 14, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Ollie Prine.
She is survived by her three sons: James (Mary) Armstrong of Wapakoneta; Grover (Wanda) Armstrong of Saint Marys; Joseph (Shelly) Armstrong of Cartersville, Georgia; by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; by a cousin, Marilyn Armstrong of Saint Marys; by a niece, Pauline Engel of Saint Marys; by a brother, Luther MacGilvray of New Baltimore, Michigan; a sister, Beverly Murrell of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her mother; by her long time companion, Gene Long; by her son George “Pete” Armstrong; by her siblings: Robert Goodwin, Gordon Goodwin; Ronald MacGilvray and Lila Sicken; by a grandson, James Armstrong, Jr.
Mildred attended high school in Delphos, Ohio. She was a homemaker and cared for her son George, a police officer who had been shot in the line of duty. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and writing to pen-pals. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the Auglaize County Visiting Nurses, Joint Township Hospital and the Valley Nursing Home in Saint Marys.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys, Father Anthony Cutcher, celebrant.
Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery near Delphos.
Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday and also one hour prior to the mass on Wednesday, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
