Frank L. Allsup, Sr., 80 of 416 S. Vine Street in St. Marys, OH died 1:40 p.m. Saturday January 8, 2011 at St. Marys Living Center.

 

He was born July 21, 1930 in Alexis, IL to Warren L. and Rhoda (McCoy) Allsup.

 

On April 23, 1949 in Burlington, IA, he married Lola Jean Pitzer, who survives.

 

He is also survived by:

Daughter, Debbie Hurt  of Delphos, OH                              

Son, Frank Allsup, Jr.  of Delphos, OH                              

Son, Warren (Donna) Allsup  of Bloomington, IN                              

Daughter, Vanessa (Frank) Fortman  of St. Marys, OH                              

16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren                              

Brother, John Allsup  of Fairfield, IA                              

Brother, Joseph Allsup  of Kenton, OH                              

Siste,r Naomi (Bill) Scholenbaum  of Coal Valley, IL                              

Sister, Betty Allsup  of Decatur, IL                              

favorite niece, Peggy Clark  of Greenville, OH

 

He was preceded in death by  his parents and his son-in-law, Michael Shepherd.

 

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and its active Naval Reserve Corps.

 

A rugged outdoorsman, he spent his entire career in the logging industry. He started working for his father in logging camps near Reynolds, IL and concluded with the operation of Allsup Logging Co. in Spencerville, OH

 

Following his retirement, he enjoyed spending time fixing lawnmowers.

 

Rites are scheduled 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 12, 2011 at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys, with Pastor Bruce Head, officiating. Burial, with full graveside military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, in St. Marys.

 

Visitation for family and friends will be held after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
